Lakers vs. Wolves tonight: And the winner is …

Back in Hollywood, it’s Oscars night. Here at Target Center, it’s Showtime.
Kobe Bryant’s here. So is Randy Breuer.
The Wolves have brought the legendary Minnesota center back as part of their 20th anniversary season. Both his presence and the Lakers’ reminds me of the night in the Wolves’ second season when unorthodox Bill Musselman sent the 7-3 fellow — all of him arms and legs — out to defend Magic Johnson.
The Lakers won by 10, but their superstar point guard made 6 of 22 shots on a night when Breuer played the entire game before fouling out with eight seconds left.
With Al Jefferson out for the season and newly acquired Shelden Williams inactive Sunday, somebody asked Breuer if he might be activated for Sunday’s game.
“I could play the first game,” he said. “But not the second one.”
The Wolves activated Bobby Brown for Sunday’s game but only so he could sit in uniform beside the coaches and learn the team’s way. Neither Williams nor Brown practiced Saturday because Thursday’s trade with Sacramento hadn’t been completed until Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth took their physicals later that day.
“They were officially ready to practice as of about 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon,” Wolves coach Kevin McHale said. “The problem is, we practiced at noon.”
