Thought I’d start a new thread with the daily release from the NBA on their postseason awards. Mike Brown was named Coach of the Year Monday, Dwight Howard Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday and today, as expected, Chicago’s Derrick Rose was named Rookie of the Year.
Rose got 111 of 120 first-place votes cast by writers and broadcasters and won in a landslide. O.J. Mayo was second, Brook Lopez third, Russell Westbrook fourth, Eric Gordon fifth and your very own Kevin Love was sixth, ahead of Michael Beasley and Marc Gasol.
Mayo (5), Lopez (2) and Westbrook (2) were the only other ones to get first-place votes. Love got two second-place votes and 10 third-place votes.
Each voter picked a top three for the award.
After watching the first two games of the Bulls-Celtics series, who can argue. With KG and Powe now out, how much chance do you give the Celtics in that series?
