Execs, prospects leave town, draft prep continues

The Wolves’ four-day group workouts at Target Center ended this morning and Larry Bird, Rod Thorn, Danny Ainge, Daryl Morey, etc., all left town. So, too, did a collection of mostly late first-round and second-round picks and expected free agents who began arriving Monday morning and ended today after seven separate sessions.
The bigger names will begin arriving next week in more group workouts, but these ones will feature a bigger sampling of players the Wolves will consider with their 18th overall pick as well as many of the players they will contemplate with that sixth overall pick.
Players such as USC’s DeMar DeRozan, Duke’s Gerald Henderson and Louisville’s Earl Clark are expected in town for workout sessions on consecutive days at the end of next week. June 19 looks like the big day for the big names for that sixth pick, so you can expect the likes of Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, Steph Curry, Jordan Hill, etc. (and maybe, who knows, even James Harden) in then.
Jim Stack and Fred Hoiberg left today for Treviso, Italy, and the three-day Eurocamp featuring many of Europe’s top prospects but which is not expected to include Brandon Jennings, who decided not to participate.
Meanwhile, Rob Babcock and Zarko Durisic are heading out on campus visits to continue background checks on the top prospects while David Kahn remains in town.
So far, Kahn has had a meaningful in-person conversation with only one Wolves player: Al Jefferson. He met Rodney Carney, an unrestricted free agent come July 1, briefly at one of the workout this week, but said he will wait on meeting more players probably until July because he’s busy with draft preparations and because the roster could look noticeably different by then.
