Been traveling part of the day (got a long weekend off before we descend into draftmania) so haven’t had a chance until now to post this…

Yes, that big point-guard workout planned for next Friday looks a little less sexy with word from Steph Curry’s dad today that his son will fulfill a workout date already scheduled with Washington next week but otherwise is shutting himself down, which means, unless he has a change of heart, he won’t be coming to Target Center for a workout that was supposed to include him and five other top point guards.

Curry’s move is intended to aim him to New York and the Knicks, which pick eighth overall. Curry had an impressive workout for the Knicks Wednesday and is eyeing those Manhattan endorsement possibilities.

“News to me,” Wolves boss David Kahn texted Friday night when asked if Curry had pulled out.

Of course, Curry’s refusal to work out for other teams won’t preclude them from taking him on June 25. Kahn a couple of weeks ago, though, suggested the team wouldn’t take a player it hasn’t gotten a good look at in pre-draft workouts.

If the Wolves don’t get Curry, well, they almost got his dad, Dell, 19 years ago. Then Wolves coach Bill Musselman pushed hard for the team to trade its second first-round pick in the 1990 draft to the Charlotte Hornets for Dell Curry, a great shooter than just like his kid is now.  The Wolves took Gerald Glass from Ole Miss with that 20th overall pick instead.
