Laimbeer resigns WNBA head job, headed to NBA?

Former Bad Boy Bill Laimbeer’s resignation today from the Detroit Shock’s head-coaching job in the WNBA has created speculation that he’s headed to the NBA in general and the Wolves in particular.
My guess is that he stays in Detroit and ends up replacing Michael Curry as Pistons head coach.
I don’t think his decision is related to the Wolves’ situation. But if it were, I’d think it would be as Kevin McHale’s top assistant and not as head coach, since Kahn still is talking with McHale about the job and as far as I know, hasn’t begun the process of a coaching search.
That’d be an interesting combo — Mac and Laimbeer on the same bench — wouldn’t it? Not sure how buddy-buddy those two are, though, after their heated playing days.
David Kahn hasn’t yet responded to a message asking whether Laimbeer’s move is related to his team’s opening coaching vacancy.
Placing a No. 1 assistant with head-coaching experience next to McHale has been one of the matters McHale and Kahn discussed in their conversations about the job, but Kahn said Friday the matter wasn’t a deal-breaker. It’d have to be a guy McHale is comfortable with if Mac indeed returns as coach.
