The L.A. Times reported tonight that Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis got a plane this morning bound to meet with the Wolves and called it a “strong sign” he will be replace his old playing nemesis Kevin McHale as the Wolves’ coach.

One of my league sources confirmed Rambis has traveled to meet with the Wolves, but said no contract offer had been made as of tonight.
David Kahn declined comment and said by text message “I wouldn’t read anything into the no comment.”
It’s not known if Mark Jackson, considered the other finalist for the job, has traveled or is traveling to meet with the Wolves as well. Kahn interviewed both Rambis and Jackson for a second time last week in Los Angeles.
Rambis, 51, reportedly turned down Sacramento’s job offer in June because he couldn’t reach contract terms with the Kings, who then hired Paul Westphal after he accepted a two-year contract that pays him a $1.5 million base salary with incentives that could bump his salary to more than $2 million a year.
