Report: Carney to sign with Sixers

It appears unrestricted free agent Rodney Carney is going back to the 76ers.

Philadelphia newspaper reports say the Sixers have agreed to terms with Carney, an unrestricted free agent the Sixers traded to the Wolves more than a year ago in that salary-cap bookkeeping deal that allowed them to sign Elton Brand.

David Kahn said more than once he likes Carney and hoped to re-sign him, but it obviously hasn’t been anywhere near the top of his agenda.

Expect Kahn to make at least one more trade — perhaps as soon as Wednesday involving an expiring contract(s) — to get the roster into what he deems better competitive shape before training camp begins Sept. 29 in Mankato.
